The Story
About Lark Design

Laura
Laura’s educational foundation is rooted in both creativity and human-centered design. Her undergraduate studies focused on Landscape Architecture and Graphic Design, and has a graduate degree focused on Industrial and Organizational Design and Psychology. With a deep interest in how people experience space, Laura set out to understand not just how to design beautiful environments but, how to make them functional, calming, and emotionally supportive.
Journey
Laura, the principal designer at Lark Design, has been creating and managing landscape design-build projects since 2006. Her experience spans a wide range from multimillion-dollar commercial developments to highly customized designs for private homes and estates.
Rooted in the principle that form follows function, Laura brings a thoughtful, client-centered approach to every project. Her work spans a variety of styles, including modern mass plantings, formal garden layouts, and naturalistic, wild-inspired landscapes.

The Shift
After years in the fast-paced commercial landscape industry, Laura shifted her focus to a more collaborative, one-on-one design experience. Today, she works closely with both DIY clients who enjoy getting their hands dirty and those who prefer a fully professional installation. Lark Design offers everything from comprehensive landscape plans to hourly design consulting, tailored to each client’s needs.
Landscape & Clay
Laura’s creative journey took an unexpected turn after moving and having her first child. Looking for a creative outlet, she enrolled in a pottery class at a small community studio in Colorado. What began as a fun escape quickly evolved into a true passion and eventually, a small business.
She now sells her handmade pottery to customers across the country, with pieces available both at the Maple Reserve in Manchester, Vermont, and on her website.

Building Community
After relocating to Vermont, Laura realized she deeply missed the sense of connection and shared creativity that came with her Colorado community studio. Inspired by that experience, she now offers pottery classes and workshops in her new community providing a space for others to learn, connect, and explore their creativity together.
